Summer Internship

This summer, I was granted a fantastic opportunity to be an intern at Flex Machine Tools. Flex is a family-owned manufacturing company based out of Wapakoneta, Ohio. I honestly feel so grateful and blessed to have been selected for this position. Not only was it a short drive to work, but I had the chance to work alongside some incredible and highly motivated individuals. My supervisor, Tiffany was great and taught me so many things in the marketing and manufacturing world. She gave me freedom and let me make mistakes to help better myself and figure out the ways I could do things better. On the other hand, she was the first person to give me a pat on the back for things I did well by myself to help better the company.

I truly looked forward to going to work every day and following a specific routine. There are many students who have a bad internship or don't enjoy it, so I was definitely timid when I first started, but it turned out to be a complete 180 from that. It felt great to work alongside young and energetic people who truly wanted to see themselves and the company succeed. Support breeds success, and that was the case at Flex. The owner, Nick Kennedy was also supportive of my internship and is only 35 years old, running a multi-million dollar company. He was around every day, working his hardest to make the company better but would always stop for a conversation and give me business skills that I can carry with me every day.

Moreover, I wrote this blog to show the benefits of working in a professional setting as a college student. I was timid and nervous before starting, but once I settled in, I loved every bit of it. If you are a college student and have a chance for a great internship, take it in a heartbeat and soak it all up.

  1. Hello Adam, I am so glad you had a positive internship this summer. I have not yet had an internship, but I hope to have at least half the experience you had when I get an internship. I hope to work with positive influences like you have to gain positive experiences and lessons that I can carry over into my career.

  2. I'm glad you had a great internship! When I had an internship with OHSAA, I was given a lot of freedom to do things to better myself as well. Not only that, but everyone who worked there was welcoming and helpful with anything I needed!

Back on Campus

After a much needed time off from athletics and academics, it is great to be back on campus. I was very thrilled to go home for a couple of long days. I wasn't only happy to go home because it was first time home in a month, but also because it will be last time home till Thanksgiving. We start our first week of practice this Friday and once that starts it is almost impossible to go home, so I made sure to enjoy my break.             I have always cherished my time I get when I am back home because you never know what can happen and when it could be your last time. That sounds very straight-forward but is the reality of life. As I stated, we start our basketball season this week and I am beyond focused and ready to start my third year on the basketball court. I am especially excited this year because I know the potential this team has this season especially since we are a lot older and more experienced now.      In the...

College Football Playoffs

In 2014, college football finally introduced the idea we had been waiting on, The College Football Playoffs. This meant that instead of only two teams getting a chance at the national championship, it would know be four teams. Everyone that enjoys college football was very happy when this was announced.       The first year it was introduced, the final four teams happened to be Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, and Florida State. In the first round, Oregon defeated Florida State and Ohio State defeated Alabama in an instant classic. This meant it would end up being Oregon versus Ohio State in the championship game. Ohio State went on to defeat Oregon by a score of 42-20 and celebrated winning the first ever college football national championship. I still remember Ohio State winning this game and I lost my mind. I thought it was awesome to see Ohio State win the national championship, but especially with it being the first year of the playoffs. ] ...

The Place to Be

If you are a sports fan, Cleveland is the place to be right now. Writing that first sentence makes me extremely happy because I have been a die-hard Cleveland sports fan for 22 years now. Trust me, during those 22 years there has been plenty of ugly and not as many smiles. Outside of the Cavaliers winning the NBA championship in 2016, there hasn't been a lot of positives for Cleveland sports fan, but that has finally changed.      First, let's talk about the Cleveland Browns. We all know about them, mostly bad, but that seems to be changed. They are currently 1-0 with one of the best rosters in the NFL. Outside of that, they also signed their future franchise quarterback to a big-time contract. Also, they have one of the best running backs, offensive linemen, and defensive linemen in the whole entire league. For me, this is an exciting time to be a Cleveland Brown fan, especially to see what the future holds for them. I can't pick a favorite Cleveland sports...
